Discover Beloved
At Beloved Community Church…
We extend radical hospitality to all and honor you as a precious child of God.
We believe working for a better world and providing sanctuary for those who need it go hand in hand.
We join together in community across our differences to worship together and to learn, fellowship, and do the work of justice and mercy in the world.
How We Worship
Our theology of bricks and mortar is not the church is the building, but God is working through us in this place in this time. As a result, our commitment to inclusive worship includes both in-person worship as well as worship via Zoom.
We choose Zoom over streaming, because it creates a more participatory worship space, which is highly characteristic of Beloved’s worship style and liturgy. You’ll find an authentic interactive community through worship, care, outreach, study, and social activities, however you choose to participate.

Common Questions We Hear
-
We worship on Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. and have a Bible study for adults on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome at any church event, and we recognize they will talk and laugh and cry at times. We give thanks for their presence.
-
At Beloved Community Church, UCC, we practice two sacraments: baptism and communion. Sacraments are rituals whereby we receive or are reminded of God’s grace to us through Christ Jesus. In the United Church of Christ, we understand Scripture to assert that the sacraments were instituted by Jesus. In them, we ask God’s Spirit to use the elements of water, bread, and wine to show us God’s love, grace, forgiveness, and presence.
-
Our offerings sustain the work of the church, whether those offerings are sharing our talents and gifts, reaching out to those who are sick or grieving or otherwise in need, bringing food to potlucks or volunteering to help with Brown Box (a food ministry), helping clean the church and outside areas, praying for one another, sending cards, and/or giving money, to name a few. Whatever our offering, we seek to give out of joy and love for God and one another.
We do not typically pass an offering plate during worship. If you wish to share your talents and gifts, please complete the Welcome Form or talk to/email one of the pastors.
To give money, mail a check to the church or drop it in the donation box near the door of the sanctuary. Beloveds and friends can also give online.

Absolutely. We can manage small weddings and simple receptions at our worship location. We have skilled musicians, both vocal and instrumental, who can add to the beauty of the wedding ceremony. Our pastors are available to officiate at weddings, both in our facility or at other places.
Beloved is especially suited to same-sex couples who are interested in marriage. Our congregation has a long history of welcoming and including LGBTQIA+ people into the life of our community. We are a safe space for couples to celebrate their love and commitment. If you would like to receive a marriage application, please email us or call (205) 538-0559. We will be happy to talk to you.
Whoever you are, wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

Come to worship as you are. Do you prefer jeans and a t-shirt? A dress? A suit and tie? Dress however you are comfortable. There’s a place for you here.
